Forensic analysis aided by ediscovery tools

Many government departments involved in forensic analysis and investigations require a robust tool that will assist them in delivering accurate results. When selecting a solution to assist these investigations, the solution should be able to automatically analyze the data, and should be able to speedily identify the relevant evidence using complex search operators that span multiple document types. Ideal investigation tools should offer some or all of the following features. The tool should be able to assist in collecting data, using either simple or complex search operators. The solution should be standalone, yet be able to integrate into various other applications and data or information sources. Automatic analysis of data is critical, and should remove the need for any manual interventions. Foremost, the solution should be able to filter through huge and diverse sets of documents and information sources, and be able to identify information elements that could be critical to the relevant investigation. Most eDiscovery tools are designed to ensure that most, if not all, of the functions described above are provided for. The better ediscovery vendors provide a single application and solution that meets all of the investigation needs. A solution that minimizes the manual labor involved in reviewing documents will ultimately reduce investigation costs, and so the overall productivity of investigations should be enhanced.
